COmmunity Illumination

PETE’s Community Illumination

PETE seeks to be engaged in a long term practice of reciprocal community partnerships with organizations committed to environmental and social justice. Tangibly this looks like collective days of action and opportunities to connect outside of our scheduled classes and performances. PETE commits to a minimum of these annual engagements:

  • A Festival of Art & Community

  • Days of Action (Roughly one each season with a minimum of four (4) a year)

  • A Community Series Including Workshops, Gatherings, and Art Making

Community Illumination means to illuminate the pre-existing and ever-evolving network of communities in our region with the goal of highlighting the inherent radiance present, facilitating spaces and processes for healing and growth, and collectively dreaming a better future into existence.

Venue: Alder Commons (4212 NE Prescott St)

PETE’s Community Illumination project is organized by Logan Ridenour-Starnes.

Logan (they/she/he/+) is a multi-disciplinary artist, an embodied emergence based theater-maker, and a knowledge sharer. Their work focuses on the welfare of community; working from the idea that artistic expressions are inherent to our collective existence, survival, and future. They initially moved to Portland for culinary school but fell back in love with theatre. They love to explore immersive, audience driven pieces, and pieces that work on sparking direct action to empower communities and the complexities of their healing. They recently graduated with an MFA in Directing from the University of Portland and is a member of the 2020/2021 Cohort for the Institute for Contemporary Performance. They've mainly worked in Portland on pieces like The Flame, And So We Walked, 1984, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, El Público, Wolves Eat Elk, and more!
