The Institute for Contemporary Performance 2024-2025:

Training the POSSIBILITY MIND to OBSERVE, CREATE, QUESTION, and LIBERATE.

Make performance work for NOW.

The ICP program provides a training ground for the contemporary theatre artist and acts as an incubator for the development and production of new performance works and the defining of new aesthetics. The program offers two semesters (31 weeks) of instruction and support in training the possibility mind, and focuses on questions like: How do we make live art now? How does our work in the studio meet the work on the streets and in our communities? How do we envision performance that connects us across distances; spatial, virtual, physical, and emotional? We build collective vocabularies for seeing and making theatrical content, form and structure; research for performance; composition; emergent creative process; and embodied awareness, as we open to possibility and catechize how to make live art now. The second term of the program culminates in a Performance Festival, created and produced by the cohort. This festival manifests as a practical application of the cooperative and creative processes; producorial effectiveness including proposal writing; and the competency and mastery of live performance, that is of the body and made for now.

The ICP training program runs September 2024 through May 2025.

ICP's one-year certificate program consists of 20 class-hours per week, plus additional hours of laboratory work outside of class. For 2024-25 tuition is $4000 per semester, or $8000 for the year.
